When we enter into a committed and permanent, monogamous relationship we expect it to last. We invest very heavily, emotionally in that relationship. It is very much a mind thing for us.
And to continue in that relationship and to have it be a success takes time and effort.
So when things go pear shaped, as unfortunately they do, it is understandable that we are devastated and heart-broken. We think that the world as we know it has come to an end and that there will be no happy tomorrows.
That is how I felt. I knew that I had to move on but I found that I was losing interest in pretty much everything around me. To some degree the only thing that kept me sane was my kids.
To be honest with you I didn’t rise to the situation at all well. What was the point in living? Even though I knew that I had other priorities in my life, I just couldn’t get my head around them.
My business started to suffer, income decreased and I used to just sit around all day looking at a brick wall, literally not figuratively.
Basically my attitude became very negative and I lost all hope

By doing that, those good thoughts helped provide me with a more positive outlook on life in general.
